Cover Design: A. P. Stephens’ “The White Shadow Saga-Book III Preview”

Recently, A.P. Stephens, a good friend of Scott Pond Design Studios, approached me to design a cover for his upcoming ebook teaser/preview release of his fantasy epic, “The White Shadow Saga – Book III”.

One of the great things I like about A.P. is that 1) he’s an artist in his own right and 2) he always comes with his vision ready to go.

This cover was no exception.

I want the preview book cover to be crimson red, with some some texture and color and shading.  The S symbol needs to be black–it’s the bad guys symbol in the story. There are inky veins of all sizes and directions coming toward the S symbol in the middle of the artwork… like the inky stuff is coming toward it, but has not corrupted it yet.

The best thing about working with A.P. is that he has a great vision of what he wants but yet he still gives the artist creative license to interpret and tweak to their content. A great author to work with as a designer.

If you haven’t done so yet, check out his works over at his main site: http://www.apstephens.com/.
