One of the cool things about being an artist and a graphic designer is that I get to meet interesting people and mingle with folks that you typically don’t get a chance to in, say, technical instruction or high tech circles or at the supermarket (although I guess I could meet interesting people at WalMart, but they aren’t exactly the types I’d want to call friends). I’ve had some fantastic opportunities to meet some great and unique people, from writers, fellow artists, musicians, and other creative types to folks who are social media gurus, fans, or are up-and-coming in combinations of those same circles.
One of those great people is Kali Mura, who I met and became good friends with through our mutual interest in Scott Sigler’s various works. You may have seen Kali around Twitter, sneaking in the shadows and throwing down with the best of them (and if you haven’t you really need to: not only is she a zombie-loving queen of the damned she’s also a delightful lady… but don’t tell her I said that: she’d gut me like a fish). She’s a horror writer, a self-proclaimed psi- vamp, the Dragøn Lady of DØØM (she’s a featured character in Kissyman and the Dragon Lady, a short story by Scott Sigler), and an avid napper.
I recently had the opportunity to do a commissioned portrait for her, featuring Kali and her little friend, in a scene set just before she’s taking on some evil or supernatural baddie, such as a vampire, werewolf, zombie, or Joan Rivers.
It’s a cool piece and she’s a cool lady, so I figured I’d share it and her with you.
If you get a chance, check her out: http://twitter.com/#!/Kali_Mura

Only be afraid if you are an evil undead abomination… such as Calista Flockharte…
